Hey there! Welcome to Blackberry 101 Class. This subject falls under BB101, which will provide the BB-convert and those soon-to-be, all the BASICS information about the Blackberry smartphone. Ok guys, let's go!

PART A

You are planning to buy a Blackberry smartphone. Anyhow, you don't have any idea on Blackberry. It's like a completely alien for you. Here I list down basic steps as a guide for new BBians out there.

1. What Is Blackberry
According to Wikipedia, BlackBerry is a line of wireless mobile devices developed by Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM). While including smartphone applications (address book, calendar, to-do lists, etc.) as well as telephone capabilities on newer models, the BlackBerry is primarily known for its ability to send and receive e-mail wherever it can access a wireless network of certain cellular phone carriers. It commands a 20.8% share of worldwide smartphone sales, making it the second most popular platform after Nokia's Symbian, and is the most popular smartphone among business users. Somehow, its target audience is expanding today.

2. Where To Buy A Blackberry Device?
You have 2 major choice when it comes to where to buy a Blackberry device. From the telcos and from the retailers. From the telcos including Maxis, Celcom, and Digi. Whereby, you may also buy the device from other retailers such from Lowyat Plaza, Digital Mall, Sg. Wang Plaza and other phone retailer who also sell Blackberry device.

Note: There's no different in term of specifications buying Blackberry device from telcos or from retailers but there's issue in term of warranty. The telcos will provide you at least a year period of warranty and you can claim from them if you have experience any problem regarding your device. But, if you planning to buy from retailer, you have to consider that they will not provide any warranty or warranty under the retailer only.


3. I Bought My Device. Yay! Is it unlocked?
What is unlocked? Unlocked here means, you may use the device with any telco you want. Same as normal phone. If you buy your device from the telcos, it is 100% unlocked. But if you buy it from the retailers, please ask them whether your device is unlocked or not.


4. My Device Has Tattoo!
Tattooed device is normal. Retailers brought them from overseas and sell them here in Malaysia. Most of the tattoo including T-Mobile, Vodafone, Verizone and Roagers. Most of the telcos sell devices with no tattoo, but so far, only Celcom has Vodafone tattoo on its devices.


PART B

Now you have a Blackberry smartphone! In order to fully utilize your phone, you have to subscribe to BIS (Blackberry Internet Service). Here I list down basic things that you really have to know before you subscribe to BIS.

1. What is BIS?
BIS is a service that allows POP3 and IMAP email integration for the personal user. It allows up to 10 email accounts to be accessed, including many popular email accounts such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL. There are also special bundles for just Myspace, Facebook, & MSN as well.

2. My Device Has WiFi Function. I Don't Need BIS.
You are WRONG honey. Blackberry device is not like normal device which can use the WiFi connection instead of network mobile internet. If you not subscribe to BIS, you can't even use the WiFi function. All the apps, messengers, all cannot be used. Even you can't send and received MMS. In other word, without subscribing to BIS, your Blackberry device is just like a normal phone.

3. What Telco Provides BIS?
- Maxis
- Celcom
- DiGi

All those are for postpaid users. If you are prepaid user, here are telcos that provide BIS for prepaid users.
- Hotlink
- Xpax
- DiGi Blackberry Prepaid

4. How Do I Know When my BIS Is Activated?
You may find that you activated when edge turns to EDGE, or 3g turns to 3G with BB logo.

Sometimes even when you see EDGE in caps, you might not be connected to the BIS network. To check, please do the following:

- BlackBerry menu - Manage Connections - Service Status
- Under BlackBerry Internet Service, it should read:
- Connection: Mobile Network.
- Then you're connected to the BIS network.

To confirm your BIS is working, you may also check this:
- Option,
- Advanced Option,
- Host Routing Table

The table should show you some kind of code numberings, that mean your BIS is ON, if no data, call your telco and complain.

5. BB PIN?
In every Blackberry device, there will be a PIN. This PIN is needed if you want to use Blackberry Messenger. The PIN is already there in your device.At the Home screen, by pressing "alt" + "shift" + "H". It's will show the phone data and etc.

Extra : The pin will stay in the device. It can't be wipe off or it can't be erased.

Now you have completed the course! The next step is to enjoy your device!

The Hidden Command in a BlackBerry, Check ur Up Time, Voice/Data Usage, etc

Perhaps some of you already know theres a built in hidden command shortcut in a blackberry which can check your uptime, voice/data usage, etc
For who didn't know it i share it with you here. and i hope it will be usefull

To Check Your Device General Information:

At the home screen of your Berry
press:(HOLD) alt + shift + h

This is what gonna appear

Your PIN will be shown, but If the PIN: Suspended, means u can't use BlackBerry Internet Service. Don't Buy it!!!

To Check Your Device Voice/Data Usage:

A Brand New item should not exceed the limit

Go to: Options > Status > Type: BUYR (for qwerty KeyPad)

Go to: Options > Status > Type: BUZR (for qwertz KeyPad)

Definitely Brand New Device

Not Brand New
If The usage not exceed, perhaps is just for testing purposes


To Check Your Device Locked or Unlocked:
Go to: Options > Advanced Options > SIM CARD > Type: MEPD

Device Locked by Provider

Device Fully Unlocked

Review tentang BlackBerry Bold 9780

Hello semua,kali ini saya akan memberitahu anda semua review saya pada bold 9780 ini..Pertama,dari segi kelajuan load page internet,ia agak laju jika anda menggunakan BIS 2G dan masa load yang diambil untuk new page agak sekejap dan tidak memakan masa kecuali jika membuka page yang terlalu banyak barang sampai page tu berat jadi kalau hendak melayari web page yang berat saya cadangkan gunakan BIS 3G agar lebih laju dan tidak memakan banyak masa tetapi perlu ingat bahawa 3G boleh menyebabkan bateri anda kehabisan dengan lebih cepat walaupun anda meletakkan BlackBerry anda di mode sleep tetapi jika anda hanya melayari lawan web yang tak berat,facebbok,twitter or msn saya cadangkan guna BIS 2G..Jika tempat tersebut mempunyai wi-fi,saya cadangkan activatekan BIS 2G dan connect ke wi-fi kerana jika BIS tidak diaktifkan kredit akan ditelan walaupun telah connect ke Wi-fi..Kedua,camera,imej gambar yang dihasilkan agak memuaskan walaupun camera hanya 5MP dan saya berpuas hati dengan imej gambar yang dihasilkan oleh Bold 9780 tetapi ingin diingatkan BlackBerry was meant for social not Photography :) Ketiga,skrin,skrin bagi saya masih sama dengan bold 9700 kerana skrin hanya sebesar 2.44 inch screen with resolution of 480x360 pixels dan kepada yang nak main game dengan Blackberry bold 9780 dan ingin skrin besar,BlackBerry bold 9780 bukan pilihan anda kerana skrin tidak sebesar mana pun dan pilihan game pun tidak banyak..Keempat,processor speed,saya amat berpuas hati dengan processor speed walaupun hanya 624MHz kerana jika membuka facebook ia akan load dengan cepat sekali berbanding iPhone 3Gs yang mengambil masa lama dan kadang kadang tidak response...Kelima,Music Player,music player untuk BlackBerry Bold 9780 support MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, AMR dan untuk speaker BlackBerry ia agak kuat dan saya sungguh berpuas hati dengannya sebab mengalahkan iPhone dan sesetengah model HTC..Keenam,LED notification light,ia akan menyala warna merah jika kita ada notification sms,miss call,facebook,twitter,BBM dan banyak lagi dan ia membantu saya peka tetapi bukan semua orang perlukan LED notification light kan?Ketujuh,battery life,battery life blackberry bergantung kepada penggunaan anda,jika anda kuat sms,call,facebook,e-mail,twitter maka lebih kurang 1 hari+ jika menggunakan line 2G dan jika 3G mungkin 6-7jam sahaja..Kelapan,memory,blackberry menggunakan microSD memory yang boleh diupgrade sehingga 32GB(masa beli blackberry dapat 2GB memory card free)..Kesembilan,sync contact with BlackBerry,fungsi ini membolehkan anda sync contact anda dengan rakan anda di facebook dan fungsi ini akan membuat di contact blackberry anda mempunyai gambar mengikut display picture mereka di facebook dan jika mereka tukar gambar mereka di facebook,contact book di blackberry anda akan sync dan tukar gambar baru yang mereka letak di facebook dan contact book anda terus ada gambar baru tersebut dan birthday mereka akan terus ada di Blackberry calendar anda walaupun anda tidak set...Finally,OS,Blackberry bold 9780 is using the new OS which is BlackBerry 6 that make the phone more organized and easy to use..Well,I guess that's all I can tell about bold 9780 and if got any question just comment and I'll answer it..My overall is kalau anda gilakan social,anda perlu mendapatkan BlackBerry Bold 9780 kerana ia menepati ciri ciri anda dan anda tidak akan menyesal membelinya..My Ratings:4/5

Aku dan BlackBerry Bold 9780

Hello semua,pada 29/1/2011 aku telah membeli Smartphone bernama BlackBerry keluaran Research In Motion dari Canada..Aku telah membelinya sebab ciri cirinya telah menarik perhatian ku dan sampai sekarang aku masih gila tentangnya dan susah nak hidup takde BlackBerry aku..Reason aku tertarik dengan BlackBerry kerana fungsi "Push Notification" yang ada dalam smartphone tersebut.."Push Notification" ialah setiap e-mail,notification facebook,twitter etc semua tersebut akan di pushkan terus masuk dalam smartphone BlackBerry dan akan memberitahu kita bahawa kawan di facebook or etc telah comment di status kita dan kita boleh terus membalas comment tersebut walau di mana jua kita berada(janji tempat tersebut ada coverage) dan itu ialah baik sekali kerana tidak membuat kawan di facebook kita tunggu 10jam baru dapat reply dari kita semua(kesian orang tu tunggu lama lama) bukan macam iPhone kerana iPhone punya application kebanyakkan menggunakan "Pull Notification" kita kena log in facebook kemudian baru kita tahu "Eh,kawan aku ada comment status akulah" (iPhone SUCKS)..Kemudian,BlackBerry Internet Service(BIS),Kalau BlackBerry anda tidak dilengkapi dengan BIS,BlackBerry anda akan bersamaan dengan Nokia 3310 kerana hanya boleh call,sms only!(Buang je kat tong sampah kalau BlackBerry anda tidak dilengkapi dengan BIS) BIS boleh disubscribe dengan harga yang berpatutan,dengan RM2.50,anda akan dapat melayari internet,social networking,download lagu di internet terus masuk BlackBerry anda dan paling penting dalam semua model BlackBerry,BlackBerry Messenger(BBM)!Kalau anda menggunakan Hotlink,anda akan dapat melayari internet social networking,BBM sebanyak 200MB!(Gila betul Hotlink sebab Celcom 50MB je untuk harga RM2.50(Celcom sucks))dan if you use an iPhone,you must bound with contract yang mahal nak mampos cos if buy without contract,your bills is damn expensive and credit akan tolak banyak kerana internet sevice yang mahal dan BlackBerry takyah contract pun takpe(YIPEE!)Kemudian,BlackBerry Messanger,kalau anda mempunyai rakan yang memakai BlackBerry(Model tak kisah) macam saya(XD),anda boleh meminta rakan anda BlackBerry Pin dan terus add ke BBM dan terus chatting dari pagi sampai malam without hidden charges(kalau anda beli BlackBerry,give me to setting your BlackBerry so credit tak tolak banyak)and if you use iPhone 4,you can only face time iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 only(SUCKS)because BlackBerry can BBM walaupun model berbeza(Ting!) Jadi,untuk review saya hari ini ialah anda perlukan BlackBerry jika anda kaki social macam saya kerana dengan BlackBerry dan BIS,you are connected to internet 24/7!
